A BETTER WAY TO WORK

Each year companies and individuals spend hundreds of hours and millions of dollars trying to best match people to roles, but the results aren't what they could or should be...
  • People show up disengaged and barely caring about their work.
  • Leaders struggle to manage their own work while trying to motivate and manage those in their care;
  • Teams can't collaborate effectively and strife ensues;
  • Organizations ultimately fail to achieve their true potential.

These frustrations lead to a lack of productivity, profitability, and ultimately turnover -- causing the whole cycle to repeat; thus costing everyone more dollars and time.

It's a cycle that doesn't have the exist.
Talent and Teams Consulting helps New England based organizations, teams, and individuals identify, understand, and engage their innate talents so that they can operate more efficiently while making work enjoyable.

CHAD T. AHERN - FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL COACH

At it's core, Talent and Teams Consulting is a Strengths-based coaching organization founded and run by Chad T. Ahern.

Chad's coaching approach always starts by identifying and understanding the talents of each individual or team he works with through the lens of the CliftonStrengths assessment. Based on your goals, or those of your team, Chad personalizes his approach to help you match talents to action.

Chad is also the creator of the ENGAGED EFFECT coaching experiences to help individuals, leaders, and teams use their Strengths to enhance employee engagement.
CHAD'S STORY
Chad T. Ahern of Talent and Teams Consulting; Gallup Certified Strengths Coach

BUILDING A STRENGTHS / ENGAGEMENT MOVEMENT

I agree with Adam Grant and Simon Sinek that work shouldn't suck. I also believe that we are at a point where demographic changes in our workforce provide a unique opportunity to change the way individuals and teams engage with their work.

I started Talent and Teams Consulting in 2015 with a desire to grow a new generation of Strengths-focused, leaders and organizations. I want to develop leaders-as-coaches who can help others more fully engage with meaningful work. This is my WHY.

I desire to see organizations understand, develop, and capitalize on the unique, awesome, and innate talents each person brings to work. In launching and supporting such organizations, I want to help people re-discover their passion and more fully engage with meaningful work. When I first started, I focused solely on helping my Vermont community. Since then, I've realized that far more of New England needs Strengths-based coaching to help each individual & team contribute their best.

Based on my personal experiences and the conversations I've shared with current and future leaders, it is my sincere belief that we need to rethink the way we work....
  • We need to move from top-down management to coaching.
  • We need to move from standardized jobs to individualizing how people accomplish their work.
  • We need each person to be as involved as possible because our workforce is shrinking.
  • We need each person to understand the unique value they bring to each initiative and organization they contribute to.

You're in the right place, if you...

  • Believe each person brings unique value and talents to their work.
  • Want to focus on what people do well, rather than fixate on what's wrong.
  • Know that someone outside your work can bring a unique and valuable perspective
  • Understand there is value in investing in yourself or your team.
  • Value differences and see them as advantages
  • Appreciate that coaching & personal development takes time...and, is not accomplished in a one-off experience.

You might be in the wrong place if...

  • You're looking for a quick fix; that coaching is a one-and-done effort
  • You don't have money and resources to invest in yourself or your team.
  • You aren't going to put in the time to think about and incorporate new behaviors.
  • You don't like change.

TESTIMONIALS

Chad Ahern from Talent and Teams Consulting really showed our ITS team how we can interact with each other on different projects to really engage our strengths and have a more influential impact on our University and the students and staff we support. I am so excited for us to start using these newfound talents and strengths in our everyday work!
- Zach R.; Burlington, VT
Chad is very thorough and meticulous. He showed our team that while we may be different as individuals, we need to use the differences as strengths. Thanks Chad!
- Frank M.; Norwich, VT
The work with Chad was excellent in terms of getting [my] students to candidly reflect on what they brought to their respective consulting teams and then to discuss how their teams could successfully function given the diversity of skill sets in each of them. Chad was knowledgeable, supportive and very skillful in moving the group discussion along. I recommend him to any organization that is depending on successful team functioning to attain whatever goals it has set for itself. On an individual employee level, Chad is able to give people a better sense of their own capabilities and possible future directions. Again, I'd recommend him for anyone who wants their staff to increase their self-awareness and personal efficacy!

MORE ABOUT CHAD

Now that you know who I am and what I do professionally, here are some personal pieces that you might relate to:
  • As a husband and father, I'm constantly "co-coaching" my two boys and dog, alongside my wife, Amy.
  • A lifelong athlete, you'll often find me still trying to get time on a basketball court or soccer field. Some say my jump shot is so classic it belongs in the movie "Hoosiers."
  • I earned my Bachelors degree in History, with an unofficial focus on the period surrounding WWII. Because of this passion, "Saving Private Ryan" is one of my all-time favorite movies.
  • I'm passionate about helping others and regularly dedicate time and/or treasure to support local non-profits. Some of the organizations I have or do support include: Mercy Connections, Pathways Vermont, and All Breed Rescue.
  • I seem to have a natural affinity for the New England "do-it-myself" attitude. Personally, I attribute it to having been born and raised in two places that epitomize this approach -- Texas ("Don't mess with Texas") and New Hampshire ("Live free, or die".)

INSPIRED BY

Gallup, Inc.

THE organization that literally wrote the book on Strengths-based development and coaching, and defined the research and approaches for employee engagement

Simon Sinek

Given my affinity for mission-driven organizations and leaders who serve, I applaud and follow Simon's work around defining our "why", and encouraging leaders to see themselves as coaches.

Marcus Buckingham

Ever since I read "Frist, Break All the Rules", Marcus Buckingham's continued work (in parallel with Gallup) on Strengths and the future of work has been essential to my coaching.

Patrick Lencioni

Author of "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team", Patrick's work on trust and accountability is key to thinking about how the best teams can and should operate.
